The coronavirus is spreading in Finland and around the world. Therefore, we have had to reduce the operations of maternity and child health clinics. However, we do offer more phone and remote appointments than before.

Our maternity and child health clinics continue to support pregnant women and families with children during the coronavirus pandemic. If you need to book an appointment, please contact our centralised appointment booking and counselling number, tel. 09 816 22800, Mon–Fri 8:30–14:30. Our online appointment booking system is currently not in use.

Pregnant women

Our clinics take care of pregnant women as agreed. A pregnant woman’s first appointment with a public health nurse will be partly carried out by telephone and partly as a remote appointment.

Babies aged 0−12 months

Check-ups will be available as usual. We will also serve other clients who need appointments. All group activities have been cancelled. Six-month-old babies can get an individual appointment with a public health nurse instead of a group clinic appointment.

Toddlers

Toddlers’ health check-ups have been suspended until further notice. We will contact these clients personally. New child health clinic appointments for toddlers are currently not available. However, we will book an appointment for a toddler if the family feels that it is necessary. Appointments are also available for families that are concerned about something.

Toddlers will be given appointments at the open clinic so that they can get the vaccines listed in the Finnish national vaccination programme.

Evening opening hours have been suspended.

The open clinic

To visit the open clinic, you need to book an appointment. Book an appointment by calling the maternity and child health clinics’ centralised customer service number, tel. 09 816 22800, Mon–Fri 8:30–14:30.

Group meetings

All group meetings have been cancelled until further notice. As all family coaching groups have also been cancelled, please read childbirth education and family coaching materials on the Terveyskylä and HUS websites:

Information about breastfeeding is also available on the Terveyskylä and HUS websites:

You can also get an appointment with a lactation consultant at the maternity and child health clinic, if you need one.

Lobby staff

We will have lobby staff at out maternity and child health clinics. Their job is to advise clients and make sure that people only visit our clinics if they are healthy and that not too many people show up together. They also give advice on good hand hygiene.

Only visit a clinic in good health

You are only allowed to visit a maternity and child health clinic if you are in good health. If you should need a new appointment time, please call our appointment booking and counselling number at tel. 09 8162 2800 on weekdays 8.30–14.30.

Please do not bring many people with you, to prevent our waiting rooms from becoming too crowded.

  • Maternity clinic: If you are pregnant, your partner may come to the clinic with you.
  • Child health clinic: We will only admit the child and one guardian to the consulting room.

We will use remote interpreters if we can.

We will update information on the coronavirus on our website: Coronavirus advice for Espoo residents
